As part of a full-home renovation, this primary suite was reimagined as a serene, spa- like sanctuary rooted in elegance, wellness, and a strong connection to nature. Inspired by the home’s location overlooking Long Island Sound, the design embraced organic textures, calming hues, and the tranquility of water.

The original bathroom layout was outdated and inefficient, with a cramped shower, awkward tub platform, and wasted space. The redesigned space now features a custom European sauna, expansive shower, double vanity, makeup table, and separate water closet. Blue glass tile and sand-toned porcelain evoke shoreline elements, while custom millwork with metal inlay and curved mirrors bring sophistication and warmth. A major challenge—integrating the sauna without overwhelming the space—was solved through precise planning and the use of warm Hemlock and a half-glass top. Aging-in-place features like a zero-entry shower and integrated vanity nightlight enhance long-term function without compromising style.

In the bedroom, the original windows were oddly small to connect meaningfully with the stunning water views. Maximizing them transformed the space, allowing natural light to flood in and frame the landscape beyond. A Palisandro Blue marble fireplace with a custom mantle anchors the room, crowned by a Jeri Eisenberg photographic encaustic artwork. An oversized mohair daybed and a minimalist textural desk face the beautiful views, with a recycled sea-glass-inspired lamp and large Capiz shell chandelier capitalizing on the high ceiling, reinforcing the natural theme.

The bed—framed by a metallic-washed blue raffia wallcovering—features a cream tufted headboard with a luxe metal canopy with stained wood frame, creating a cocoon- like feel. Artwork of leafy branches on mylar by Jackie Battenfield brings nature in with a vivid and mediative quality.

This primary suite is a restorative escape—crafted with care, layered in detail, and deeply connected to its homeowners love of nature.
